Examine the most common types of arthritis to better design programs for this clientele. Learn to modify and progress exercises, and to vary impact and intensity to meet the multi-level needs. There are more than 100 diseases in the arthritis category and it is widely accepted that most of the symptoms may be greatly benefited through water exercise. This program will review exercise inventory for safe and effective exercise design based on an understanding of functional range of motion and joint action. The balance program will target cardiovascular training, functional fitness, muscular endurance and strength, balance and flexibility training. WaterART working positions will be introduced to provide multi level programming to help each participant train at an appropriate intensity level for self paced exercise – appropriate for types of arthritis. This program will also introduce the use of flotation and resistive devices such as noodles and resistive paddles for improved performance. Water Walking and Tai Chi movements will be incorporated to train mobility, gait and balance.

  • 8 hours of training (lecture & pool time)

  • DVD011-Shallow H20 Instructor Program DVD,

  • 4 Laminated pool reference cards,

  • Study Guide Questions & Answers,

  • Certificate of Course completion with 8.0 hours CEC’s

  • Certification Exams (theory & practical assessment).

  • Certification diploma, wallet card and online profile after you have successfully completed exams.

All information and competencies for completing the program is clearly written in the manual or on the waterart.org website. If you are already currently WaterART certified, you only need to complete the theory exam prior to your expiration. Your qualifications will be automatically updated for 2 years from your pass date of the new certification or when you qualify. This is an excellent way to attain more qualifications and automatically renew your existing certification level(s). All candidates have up to six months after training to complete the exams. After six months we do charge late fees and after a year, we no longer may accept your exam application.

  • Please dress in layers in case the room temperature in classroom varies.

  • NOTE: All certification materials will be given out at training event unless you would like them shipped in advance ($15.00 fee).
