Joseph Pilates developed this art of controlled movements in the early 20th century. Pilates exercises improve flexibility, build strength and develop control and endurance throughout the entire body. Pilates puts emphasis on alignment, breathing, developing a strong core, and improving coordination and balance.
Exercises can be modified in range of difficulty from beginner to advanced or to any other level in between and to fit the instructor and student’s specific goals and/or limitations. Intensity can be increased over time as the body conditions and adapts to the exercises.
